How Recommendations Are Written and Why It Matters
Recommendations in Pear Suite are description-only tools. They don’t trigger actions automatically, and they don’t assign referrals or goals. Instead, they provide written guidance when a member’s response suggests they may need support.
You can think of them as a virtual notepad that only appears when it’s relevant.
The description is where the real value is—it gives users a list of things to do or consider. For example:
- “The member reported food insecurity. Consider assigning a food support goal and referring them to a local pantry or enrollment agency.”
- “The member selected ‘Unstable Housing.’ Here’s a list of housing assistance programs: [Resource 1], [Resource 2], [Resource 3].”
These messages are displayed in the member’s profile only if the right trigger is met—based on the question’s Data ID and selected answer(s).
There is no “Send” or “Start” button in a recommendation. It's just helpful guidance shown at the right time.
If your team wants to ensure that staff always see a reminder, resource list, or prompt to act when a certain answer is selected, recommendations are the right tool for the job.
