Auto-Actions for Bulk Imported Activities
Table of Contents
You can trigger automated actions when importing activities, just like you would when creating them manually. This helps ensure consistent automation across both manual and bulk workflows.
Overview
If you want to automate actions during an activity import, you’ll first need to set up a scripted flow that includes the actions you want to run. Once this is connected to an activity template, you can enable auto-actions in your import template. If you need support, reach out to your customer success manager.
Step 1: Set Up Your Scripted Flow
Build the automated actions you want to trigger in a scripted flow template.
Learn more about scripted flow automated actions here: Script Flow Automated Actions.
Attach the scripted flow to an activity template.
Supported automated actions during import include:
- Create a goal
- Complete a goal
- Schedule an activity (immediately only)
- Update member
- Create referral
- Start care pathway
- Update care pathway
- Add member to group
- Remove member from group
- Assign user
- Unassign user
Not supported through import:
- Upload file
- Create billing procedure limit
- Collect consent
- Schedule an activity for a future date (will always schedule immediately)
Step 2: Create an Activity Import Template
- Go to the Data Management tab.
- Select Import Templates, then click Create Import Template.
- Choose Import Type: Activity.
- Select the activity template that includes your scripted flow, then click Continue.
- Name your import template.
- Turn Enable Auto Actions ON.
- You can turn this off at any time if you want to pause automated actions.
- Complete the import template setup as usual:
- Include a member unique identifier.
- Add activity information (such as start time and end time).
- If billable, include insurance details, procedure code, modifiers title, place of service, diagnoses, assigned users email, billing consent.
- All questions from the scripted flow will appear.
- To remove any question, click X next to it.
- Click Create Import Template to save.
Step 3: Prepare Your Import File
Make sure the headers in your CSV match exactly with those in your import template.
You can review more details on preparing your data here: Importing Members and Activities for Billing-Only Teams
You can also work with your Customer Success Manager to develop a CSV file and import template for your specific workflow.
Step 4: Import and Run Auto-Actions
- Open the import template you created.
- Go to the Imports tab.
- Click Create New Import.
- Upload your CSV file.
- Click Refresh to process the data.
Activities will be generated for each member in your file, and the linked actions will run automatically if the data matches the scripted flow responses.
