Referrals in Pear Suite are a critical tool for connecting members with community partners and ensuring they receive the necessary support beyond your organization. By utilizing automated triggers within activity flows or manual entry from the member profile, care teams can efficiently coordinate outreach and track follow-through via email or SMS.
Option 1 – Automated referrals via activity flows
- Ensure a Referral Template is linked to a specific answer choice within your Flow Builder using an Answer Action.
- Launch an activity with a member and navigate to the relevant question.
- Once the member provide an answer that flags a specific need (e.g., selecting "Yes" for food insecurity), the linked referral will automatically appear on the member's profile.
- Select Send to deliver the pre-written referral message to the partner or the member instantly.

Option 2 – Manual referrals during an activity
- Scroll to the bottom of the active activity module and select the + Options button.
- Choose the method of entry:
- Use a template: Select the External Resource and the specific Template to auto-fill the message details.
- Create a one-off referral: Manually enter the Title and Description if a standard template does not exist for the need.
- Click Create to attach the referral to the member's profile.

Option 3 – Manual referrals from the member profile
- Navigate to the Members section and open the specific individual's profile.
- Scroll down to the Referrals section and click + Referral.
- Select your desired template or enter details for a one-off referral.
- Choose the delivery method (Email or SMS) based on organizational settings.
- Click Send to finalize the outreach.
